The Queen of Embers

Sami Uusitalo has done it again and proves us that even though the official line of WFRP is dead (at the moment) the fans are still alive and kicking!

The Queen of Embers is a new mammoth adventure with no less than 121 pages of adventure! It includes all the details you will need to make a memorable campaign though eight connected chapters taking place in Nuln and Wissenland.

This kind of job is not for a faint hearted fan so I really hope that you will take time to read it through, comment it and GM it to your friends. Remember to tip your hat at Sami because his is the keeping all of our spirits high!

Adventure removed at request of the author.

Zweihänder Moves Through Woods

I had almost lost hope in Zweihänder getting finished (don’t ask me why). So I was really pleasantly surprised when I noticed that there was a new “Wilderness Travel” section to be read. It clearly draws some influence from The One Ring travelling system as well as the same system for Dungeon World. But standing on the shoulders of giants is a great place to be. I like these rules and am really hopeful that we will eventually return to Bretonnia once I can get my hands on a published Zweihänder book.

In other news: During next weekend the annual Finnish roleplaying convention RopeCon is held in Helsinki. I’ll be heading there and will write about my experiences on Guild Redemund’s Blog. Check it out if you are interested and give me a shout if you are coming to Ropecon. I’m always eager to meet new gamers!

Happy summer and gaming for all!

(Or almost-winter as I understand it is a bit chilly in Australia at the moment.)

[Adventure] Sweetest Kiss

After few months of just sitting on it I decided finally to release this new adventure. It is currently art free and lacks a proper layout as well as art. But as things are I doubt I’ll reach a point when I will be able to fix these things. So it would be a shame to not to share it.

I am in debt for Dave Graffam for the great maps and commenting on the adventure. I would also like to express my thanks to Sami Uusitalo who has yet again provided me with excellent comments and ideas to sharpen this adventure.

The playtesting of Sweetest Kiss is still in progress  (we have managed to play through only the first two chapters). If you have the time to run this and give me some additional comments I would be extremely pleased!

The Sweetest Kiss is an adventure to start a new campaign. It was written after a lengthy discussion at the Strike-to-Stun forums about dungeon bashing with WFRP2. Running it for any group on their first career should not be a problem. The GM will need to come up with one additional encounter to play the social events that lead into this adventure.

I hope you have great time with the Sweetest Kiss (< download PDF)!

In other news – We have started a new Dungeon World campaign. If you interested in following how that goes feel free to read about it at the Guild Redemund’s Blog.

Hold the Kalevala Hammer High

The host of KalevalaHammer and the writer of several important fan supplements for WFRP2, Jackdays, has moved his site into a new address. KalevalaHammer has also received a face lift and for example the timelines (I have used them constantly) can be downloaded as PDFs.

KalevalaHammer has been out there for almost seven years now! It is a respectable accomplishment for an independent fan site and I for one would like to give Jackdays my sound thanks for it.

If for some reason you have not visited it yet you really should. And for old users – remember to update your links.

Attack on the River Soll

Got a strange email yesterday.

13th Ulriczeit – River Soll

The attack was both surprising and ferocious and ended only with a bullet through the heart.

The rapport of my shot echoed across the river, and then the dilapidated pier creaked ominously as the ferryman fell with a dull thud.

Stenstrom, my trusted accomplice, kept a bead on the ferryman as Sister Erika lifted her storm lantern to inspect the body more closely.

“It is as I feared,” the Shallyan said, “He was one of them, no doubt about it.”

With one swift motion she yanked a necklace from the ferryman’s neck and lifted it for us to see. Dark shells glistened in the lantern’s pale light.

Sister Erika is from the Order of The Black Dove, a group of Shallyan zealots who actively hunt followers of the Plague God. They are convinced that the thing I am after is in fact one of the dreaded «unreadable».

“It is just like the fell grimoire says,” Sister Erika continued,

And from the tolling of the death knell will you know he is come; and his sign the shell.”

As I looked at the shell necklace and the dead ferryman, I found it hard to disagree. The question is, did he wear the shells to show allegiance, or as protection against something…

A WFRP fan supplement coming soon.
