In the Shadows of Drakwald

The Daily Empire is a gaming blog of Guild Redemund for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. It’s purpose is to simulate a irregular and small newspaper that is published in Middenheim and from which readers may find various articles to their interests.

Current campaign we’re playing is a homemade one called “Carnival in Chaos vol.1 – Shadows of Drakwald. It tells the tale of (yet-to-be-named) carnival folk that travel to regions of Middenheim just prior the infamous Storm of Chaos only to be devoured by it.

There are six active characters in the campaign:

  • Corvin Eisenhauer  - Entertainer with a pet-gnoblar (Bullshitter Extraordinaire)
  • Demitriji Ekomov – Kislevian bear trainer (and pretty bad in it)
  • Guiseppe Terragni – Magician from Tilea (hedge wizard)
  • Dietmund Jochutz – Young initiate of Morr with a gambling problem
  • Kurik Vragnison – Dwarf vagabond in a willing exile
  • Wolfgang Kinert – Former law-student who currently works for carnival as a guide

In addition to players the carnival consists of about twenty other persons that are only named and when needed to. This way there’s always new possibilities to include NPC that is needed. Currently only few carnival NPCs are known by name:

  • Mama Bogdana – Generic Strigany mystic
  • Verwirtt-Mats – Young and depressed boy who’s only in because of the good will of the former carnival master
  • Madam Saphire - a luscious dancer for exotic tastes.
  • Hirschfreier Heftige – snobbish playwright
  • Gottwill Vorrichtung – Insane prophet who lives atop a pole
  • Gautier Piquerau – Masked bretonnian violist and actor who has been chosen to lead the carnival
  • Hilde Filius – Guiseppe Terragni’s assistant
  • Osric Delholt – Jochutz’s hardy Averlandian bodyguard
  • Andreas Sigschalk – Roustie
  • Nique and Piqeu Le Gazon – halfling twins from Bretonnia
  • Jernegan Peperkorrel – chef
  • Helena Talabheimer – chef’s young servant
