We Wish You A Scary Solstice

Today I posted this on StS and FFG’s forums:

In the old days WFRP was supposedly created as a “fantasy version of Call of Cthulhu”. I think this idea is still very good one. Bring in the mysteries, cults and weird uncles. Raise up the dead ones and whisper threaded names in ancient libraries.

In addition to the one I wrote I received one from Sami Uusitalo (who you might remember from various writings – most recently the Four Truths About the Beast of Bögen).

I’m still hopeful that we receive a few additional onesheets. But as I’m getting ready to watch movies and enjoy the Winter Solstice evening I decided to put up the two entries already.

The Opener of Ways is my entry and The Prehensile-tailed Comet is the one that Sami wrote. We are hoping you will enjoy them both.

All in all have a very scart Solstice.

And an eldritch new year…

Creature of the Folk Lore

“Have you heard the story about the Beast of Bögen, stranger?”

About a year ago while writing for the Hand of Glory-scenario for Liber Fanatica 9 I contacted Sami Uusitalo for a little help. Originally he wrote a small addition to the story. But it did not take long for this addition to take a life of its own.

The Five Truths About the Beast of Bögen is a different kind of scenario. I wont go into details as they would certainly spoil the story but I do recommend GMs out there to run it. It works with almost any campaign of WFRP and really is a great addition.

The file has been updated in the Downloads section of WFRP2.

You may also directly download it HERE as a pdf.

The adventure has stats for WFRP2 only but if someone has the opportunity to make a conversion for WFRP3 I would like to host it here also (Sami Uusitalo actually asked me to do the stats so I imagine he has nothing against someone else doing them).

***Minor Spoiler warning for Hand of Glory!***

As for the Hand of Glory – you can actually still spot where this piece was going to be added. There is a minor error in the edit of LF9 on page 73. Act 2, Encounter 1 lists two possible outcomes 2a and 2b. Only one is given though and the 2b-option is put into a small box. I would however like to encourage GMs to use Five Truths About the Beast of Bögen in this Act. Episode 3 is good for it anyway.

***End of spoilers***

A Tale of the Frog Prince

After a successive one-shots session last night a decided to write this randomly generated adventure as a one-sheet. This is adventure was mostly influenced by the best fantasy writers of the first half of the past century and should be considered as such. It is quite a leap from your regular WFRP adventures – or quite possibly not.

The party faces a mellow mystery an unknown community and may either succumb to it or free them from their curse. But it can only happen if the characters are ready to face the dangers of the…

Ye Oldest Con

Just received another one-sheet adventure. And by “just” I mean “almost two weeks ago”. Sorry Ovid.

Aaaaaanyway. Ovid (a member of the magnificent Strike-to-Stun community) has written a onepager about one of the oldest cons in the book. I won’t spoil this for players but I think that it presents a good alternative for all editions of WFRP. It might even be used as a basis of a longer campaign.

I would really like to see even more these kinds of adventures out there. Hopefully The Estalian Prisoner sparks a few ideas that can be shared with the community.
