New Perils Await

The Winter is here (at least in Finland anyway) and the dark nights just got a little darker. The new issue of Liber Fanatica is just around the corner and should be released in not too distant future.

I’m really proud of my input for the coming issue. Especially about the second part in the Master of Shadows-campaign. Hopefully we’ll have feedback on the whole issue (when it’s out) so issue 10 (hopefully coming at the end of this year) will be the best one yet.

Liber Fanatica – Strange Eons extension

From FFG forum:

Liber fanatica usually come up with new cards or even new cards types. LF7 was published along his own Strange eons plugin (built by Sunatet and Jussi). I resumed their work, to add LF8 cards as well as brand new card types (ideas from FFG forums or LF discussions).

this extension is still under construction, since you folks always have thousands of new great ideas. Some updates are most likely to come up, with new stuff or existing stuff improvments. Feel free to ask for improvements/new cards and report any issues you could have.

You can get it >> here <<

HOW TO USE IT :

you can download Strange Eons alone here : http://www.sfu.ca/~cjenning/eons/

open Strange Eons, Toolbox/Manage plugins/Open plugin folder
copy w3e.seext in there and reload Strange Eons.

altenatively, you can double-click w3e.seext to install it into SE <<<<<THIS DOES NOT ACTUALLY WORK

Make sure that you have the latest version of Java, and latest version of Strange Eons (i personally have v2.1 alpha 13)

– “i get error that ui-grid.selibrary is missing” >> “You can download the ui-grid.selibrary from the Strange Eons Website at http://www.sfu.ca/~cjenning/eons/plugins/index.html” (hat tip Sorga68)
– All cards : some users seem to experience errors when loading existing cards >> make sure you have the latest version of SE, try to reinstall it wil all patches (check in the thread page 5-6 for related discussion)

 WHAT CAN IT DO ?

most existing cards

LF8 cards (trade, trade locations)

CURRENTLY WORKING ON :

NPC and Ally cards (see the asbtract NPC thread in House rules sub-forum)
NPC cards are much like FFG NPC cards, and retainer cards (from lure of power)
Ally cards are a more abstract version of retainers (no stats no specific actions, only bonuses to PCs)

Encounter cards (LF9)

I’ve Mostly Been Hunting Dragons

I seriously doubt that anyone has been able to avoid the Thing called Skyrim.

It is as time consuming as one might think. And when you are a stay-at-home dad like me you have very limited “free time” on your hands. Sadly this has meant that I have been neglecting Warhammer.

I would be lying to say that Skyrim is the only reason, but I am quite sure that nobody really needs to know all the reasons why somebody has been “away” from an internet community. It just happens.

Luckily last few days have been quite busy when it comes to Warhammer.

Jackdays has released his marvelous Norsca guidebook and is even know working on it to bring WFRP3 players more bits and pieces so they could call the Frozen North their home. I also received a great amount of notes conserning the adventure I am writing for Liber Fanatica 9. I am sure they will force me (in a good way) to get back on writing for LF. The marvelous preview I got from our editor/artist god Jussi Alarauhio didn’t hurt much either.

The problem with the Reckless Dice Podcasts in iTunes has also been fixed so I finally managed to get the latest episodes (as I am too lazy to learn new ways when I can just bitch about the old ones beign better).

There just might be a little something extra brewing on my mind. Something eldritch… But I will have to get back on this when it is a bit more ready.

Aaaand as a final thought – here is someConcept art for Skyrim: http://skyrimguild.com/concept-art/ Great way to introduce your players to Nordland and Norsca!

Liber Fanatica #9 seeking Artists!

The venerable WFRP publication Liber Fanatica is seeking talented artists for volume 9.

Publishing art via Liber Fanatica is a great opportunity to reach a wider audience, including RPG industry professionals.

In volume 9, there will be a great variety of topics for artwork illustrating the world of Warhammer Fantasy.

We accept work in diverse media as long as the style fits in the atmosphere of the Old World.
Art orders will range from specific item and landscape illustrations to less specific pieces.

We also accept single piece contributions – long term commitment is not a requirement!

If you’d like to join the ranks of Liber Fanatica artists, scribbling little things like skulls, weapons, rats, etc. (or all of these together in jumbled heaps) is your thing and you’d like to have your work published, please send a message to:

Play-testers Needed & a New Character Sheet

Just when I thought I would have the time to concentrate to this blog I got sick. My wife got sick And my son got so sick that we had to teach him to sleep without pacifier (luckily I don’t mean Vin Diesel). It’s only a flue but still annoying…

Anyway I had a point to add this anyway!

The sequel to the Master of Shadows campaign that I co-wrote to Liber Fanatica 8 is finished. And this time around we are lucky to have enough time for play-testing.

So I’ll be needing (hopefully) at least two groups to run it before the end of the year. The GM is provided with the scenario and reference material needed but due to editing times needed they will not be as spectacular to look at as the final version of the coming LF9.

If you’d like to help the Liber Fanatica in this way.

In other news:

I added Nisses’s Character Sheet on the Downloads (and would like to add that he is the fastest proof-reader I’ve worked with). One other character sheet was sent to me also but that one got pulled back.

At Strike to Stun forums DagobahDave started on a fast NPC creator that is worth looking at even in this WIP state. And if you haven’t go now to the Magic the Gathering site to check out the superior art of the Innistrad block (find the pictures in the posts under “headlines”. It’s almost as good as the work of the Liber Fanatica artists.

A fellow gamer on Strike to Stun also pointed out some errors in my ancient Caradué-document. I’ll be fixing them when I find the time. For some reason I can’t find his/hers nick or real name anywhere. Thanks anyway!

I was also asked to write a review of a new eBook (The New  Death and others can be found HERE and I’d recommend you to give it a look. I bought it already.). I was intrigued to write it but I thought it is not what this site is about and currently I don’t have the time to write as good reviews I would like. So you just have to take my word on this “check it out”!

That’s that. Quite a lot of stuff. And without proper introductions. Oh well.
